New Location, New Activities for 2013
Retriever Dog Demonstration, Decoy Auction and more – Tickets are now on sale

St. Mary’s County, Maryland – On May 24 and 25, 2013, artists and wildlife enthusiasts alike are invited to attend the
7th Annual Community Foundation of Southern Maryland Potomac River Waterfowl Show at the St. Mary’s County
Fairgrounds in Leonardtown, MD. The show features dozens of award-winning artists showcasing their world-class wildlifeart both at a dinner reception and day-time fair.

Tickets are now on sale for the Cattails and Cocktails Reception and Dinner on Friday evening from 6 – 9 p.m. For $50 per person, enjoy a sit down Outback Steakhouse dinner, beer, wine and beverages. The purchase of your ticket(s) reserves your seat. Tickets must be purchased in advance by May 17. Seats are limited. Tables of eight are $400. Also, spotlight your business through a sponsorship while supporting this great event. The show re-opens on Saturday at 10 a.m. and admission is $5 per person. Experienced and novice decoy carvers may enter their creations in the show’s Working Decoy competition – registration is between 10 a.m. and noon; entry fees are $10 for the first decoy and $4 for each additional entry.

Join us in honoring Honorary Chairperson Tommy Deagle, local decoy carving legend and meet the many award-winning wildlife artists who are joining us this weekend who come from Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland’s eastern, western and southern shores. Honorary Chairperson Tommy Deagle and various other artists will be doing demos all day. The full list of confirmed artists is available on the show’s webpage. Along with the work on display, attendees are able to purchase waterfowl related items from local retailers, contemporary and antique decoys, carvings, prints and original artwork directly from the artists. Entrance to both the dinner and daytime event will give you access to the following activities:

  • Art show and sale – display of award winning wildlife and waterfowl artists
  • Working Decoy Competitions – run by the Rappahannock Decoy Carvers and Collectors Guild (International Wildfowl Carving Association rules apply)
  • Buy, sell and swap – antique and contemporary decoys, waterfowling artifacts and related items.
  • Free decoy appraisals and identifications – done by Potomac Decoy Collectors Association
  • LIVE Auction – Old decoys and related items – consigned or donated
  • NEW Retriever Dog Demonstrations
  • NEW Build a Bluebird Box – for all ages – $5 build and take home
  • NEW Sportsman Pavilion – shop from local waterfowl retailers
