Waldorf, Maryland, December, 2008 – Today, we are thrilled to announce The DC Area Outback Steakhouse Charity Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation of Charles County, presented Children’s Medical Center with $25,000 check on Monday, December 29, 2009.
“The Outback Steakhouse DC Region has been in Partnership with the National Children’s Medical Hospital’s Blood Donors Center for 5 years now”, stated Joint Venture Partner of Outback for the DC Region, Cornell Barnett. “We know how many premature infants are in need of blood and are aware of the many children born with sickle cell and other illnesses. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to live a full and healthy life, and we are very passionate about doing our part to help.”
Over the past 5 years the funds raised by the Outback Steakhouse Charity Fund have gone towards Children’s Blood donor center and towards the purchase of a new Blood Mobile. The Blood Mobile has made it possible for Children’s to bring awareness to their need and to recruit more blood donors. To date the DC Area Outback Steakhouse Charity Fund has raised almost $200,000 for Children’s Medical Center. “The partnership my team and I have with the Children’s Hospital is great and we are extremely excited that we can help support them,” stated Cornell Barnett.
