The Community Foundation of Southern Maryland, (CFSOMD) a non-profit, 501 c 3 is now accepting nominations for their 9th Annual Philanthropy Day luncheon ~ Women With Impact ~ to take place on Friday, November 7, 11:30 at Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center. This year’s event focus’ on Women who have made an exceptional impact in the lives of others locally, regionally or globally.

The Community Foundation is accepting nominations for inductees into its Philanthropy Hall of Fame. Inductees could be individuals, families or organizations who have spent their lifetime giving.

“I have always wanted to have a luncheon highlighting the contributions women have made in or who are from Southern Maryland, so instead of having an additional Luncheon, we decided to create a theme around this year’s Philanthropy Day Luncheon and have it be Women With Impact,” stated Gretchen Hardman, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Southern Maryland. The Community Foundation wants to shine the light on those who take great leaps of faith and stretch themselves to support causes they deeply believe in.

In addition, to inducting folks into our Philanthropy Hall of Fame, we would like to also give folks the opportunity to honor or memorialize the everyday woman in their lives for their sacrifices they make by contributing $100.00 in their name for the event program and power point at the event.

Nomination forms may be downloaded from the Foundation’s website: www.somdgiving.org or you may request an application by calling 240-670-GIVE. Completed applications must be returned to the Foundation by September 26, 2014. All nominees are based solely on the application. An Awards Selection Committee, with members representing the charity based organizations, businesses, and local government review each nomination application. This is your opportunity to acknowledge and honor those individuals and organizations who play an important role in this community. Please take the time to complete an application.
